The Art of Dating

I have lost the ability to "date" my husband. We just recently reinstated date night and as we sit across from each other in a restaurant we stare at each other blankly not sure what we should say to each other. I mean how many conversations can we have about our children ( hundreds of thousands) but you take them out of the equation and we draw a blank. I must say I have wimped out on a couple of dates and just gone to the movies, because hey you can't talk at the movies which is really convenient when you can not think of a topic. I mean there are the usual topics, kids, house, finances, work. But really where are all the fun, in depth topics you used to have when just dating. Of course as I am writing this entry I even draw a blank on those topics.
I feel for being married for only 11 years we sure have hit this speed bump quickly. Oh well I suppose we will continue going on our dates and figure out how to communicate with each other again (and not jsut about our children)......oh my I did use the "C" word. Maybe I will bring along a list of topics! Of course that will not work tonight for the fact that we are going grocery shopping. We have not gone grocery shopping together with no kids in I do not know how many years. This should be interesting! I wonder how many "little" disagreements we can have in 2 hours?
